Looking to tow your caravan from different vehicles but don't want to put brake controllers in each one? Australia's first Bluetooth electric brake controller has the solution!
This is different from most other brake controllers on the market in that they actually mount to your van or trailer. It then watches the brake light input, and when you apply your brake lights, it applies power to your electric brakes and adjusts them accordingly.
It sources power from your brake lights and your park lights, and you can also wire an auxiliary feed to it, so it ensures it’s always got plenty of power going to it. What it does is it’s got a Bluetooth connection to either your phone or this remote that you can use.
The Bluetooth connection is then used to adjust the settings in it, which will give you a braking profile. It’s got microprocessors and accelerometers in it, which regulate or proportion how much power goes to electric brakes. This means that this is a fully proportional brake controller that operates as well as most others on the market, or even better.
Just quickly, here is a short list of features for you:
The big question, and to be honest, the fear that even we had initially is, what if the Bluetooth connection drops out?
Well, that’s solved by this super cool little thing ’cause what it does, if it loses the connection, it just keeps the previous setting on the controller. Anybody whose had a standard brake controller in their vehicle knows it’s not that often you actually adjust the settings. Obviously you do when you re-pack your van or you empty your water tanks, and sometimes when you’re going from a highway situation to a suburban situation, you’ll adjust it. But, minute by minute, you don’t need that, so this thing is actually perfect.
We think this is a great product because anybody who’s got a family with a couple of cars and one van, it means you don’t have to fit brake controllers to all the vehicles and also great for people who want to hire their vans out, obviously this is the solution for the hiring market.
We’ve fitted plenty of them. We think they’re great. The options are obviously screw it to the drawbar and then you can either hard-wire it with a harness directly into your trailer harness, or they do have some plug and play systems, so you just plug directly into here and you’ll have a male, female, seven pin rounds, seven pin flat, 12 pin, and that’ll get you going straight away.
